Responsibilities
- Instruction Person-Centered teaching at Walden is an intentional practice requiring conscious awareness of the range of professional and lived experiences of all learners. Teaching at Walden requires a variety of strategies to fully activate student strengths, and occurs in environments that draw relevant, meaningful connections to students’ lives and the professional dispositions they develop.
- • Faculty create a welcoming, engaging environment by regularly connecting and communicating with students in the classroom through various means of communication. • Faculty encourage dynamic learning environments that support student learning, discussion, and growth.

Position Description:
We are seeking qualified online adjunct faculty to teach and support doctoral students in a doctoral-level Behavioral Health Leadership program. This professional practice-focused doctoral program prepares students to lead in integrated healthcare environments by developing advanced competencies in behavioral health systems, organizational leadership, and applied research. This is a non-clinical, non-licensure degree and is focused specifically on training students to lead in behavioral health settings in a rapidly evolving workforce.
Adjunct faculty facilitate online courses, engage students in meaningful discussion, provide timely and constructive feedback, and assess student learning in alignment with program outcomes. Faculty also support students in applying leadership theory to real-world behavioral health challenges and in developing practical, systems-level solutions that improve organizational effectiveness.
The program emphasizes cross-disciplinary knowledge, business and management skills, and evidence-based leadership practices designed to address the evolving demands of integrated healthcare delivery. Faculty should foster a collaborative, inclusive, and practitioner-oriented learning environment that supports working professionals.
Note: This is a non-licensure program and does not prepare students for professional licensure in psychology.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in I/O psychology, behavioral health, healthcare administration, general psychology (non-clinical), public health, business management/leadership, or a closely related field.
- Relevant professional experience in behavioral health leadership, leadership coaching and strategy, or integrated care settings
- Prior online teaching experience preferred
- Prior experience leading capstone/research committees
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Zoom, and online learning management systems
- Strong time management skills
Qualifications
- PhD Earned doctorate in the field of study or closely related field. Required
- Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate that they can be effective within a person-centered teaching model that strengthens a community of care.
- Must meet promotional selection criteria to be eligible for position. Required
- Must meet performance expectations outlined for your program area. Required
- 2+ years Teaching experience and/or a capacity and willingness to instruct within Walden’s Person-Centered and Community of Care approach to fostering human potential through teaching. Required
- Experience supporting doctoral capstone/research committees and/or a capacity and willingness to mentor and support a diverse population of doctoral students. [FOR DOCTORAL MENTORING] Required

Additional information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is as follows:
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
