Responsibilities

  • Instruction Person-Centered teaching at Walden is an intentional practice requiring conscious awareness of the range of professional and and lived experiences of all learners. Teaching at Walden requires a variety of strategies to fully activate student strengths, and occurs in environments that draw relevant, meaningful connections to students’ lives and the professional dispositions they develop.
  • Faculty create a welcoming, engaging environment by regularly connecting and communicating with students in the classroom through various means of communication.
  • Faculty encourage dynamic learning environments that support student learning, discussion, and growth.
  • Faculty support each student in their academic and professional growth by providing constructive feedback, which helps students understand their current performance, and feed forward, which focuses on the students’ future development.
  • Faculty demonstrate genuine care and concern for student well-being, personal and professional growth, and attainment of their personal and professional goals through individualized instructional support and guidance.
  • Faculty demonstrate dedication to the mission and vision of Walden University.
  • Faculty are available to students via email, phone, text, office hours, and individual appointments.
  • Scholarship: Walden University recognizes the importance of scholarship as a complement to effective teaching and the development of students as scholar-practitioners. Faculty members demonstrate fulfillment of the university’s scholarship standards through creating new knowledge through research, interpreting knowledge across disciplines, examining teaching models to achieve optimal learning, and/or working to solve problems within the discipline and across society. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in scholarship activities that are aligned with the Walden mission. These activities are coordinated with the faculty member’s academic leaders, and specific requirements are determined by the program and/or college.

  • Other Duties and Responsibilities
    • Faculty adhere to all Walden University faculty expectations, which are clearly set forth at the start of his/her employment and through the Faculty Handbook.
    • Attend virtual and in-person faculty meetings, residencies, workshops, commencement, and training as required.
    • Ability to work a student-friendly schedule (evenings/weekends).
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • PhD or DNP in the field of study or closely related field. Required
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate that they can be effective within a person-centered teaching model that strengthens a community of care.
  • Internal applicants must meet promotional selection criteria to be eligible for position. Required
  • Must meet performance expectations outlined for your program area. Required
  • 3+ years Teaching experience and/or a capacity and willingness to instruct within Walden’s Person-Centered and Community of Care approach to fostering human potential through teaching. Required
  • Current, unencumbered certification and licensure in Minnesota as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP), or Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) is required. AGPCNP certification is strongly preferred.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70696.00 and $100957.00. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
