Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
This position provides strategic leadership and uses data-informed approaches to develop and implement applied practice experiences (field work or practica) in a program curriculum consistent with the vision of the program and the competencies specified by the accrediting body. This role leads efforts to recruit, develop, supervise, and provide ongoing support to practice/field sites and practice/field preceptors/instructors. The position initiates and maintains collaborative partnerships with students and leads internal and external organizations to advance practice experience/field education awareness. This individual supervises faculty who teach practice/field courses, and works closely with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure that all practice/field courses are aligned with the program curriculum and students are receiving the maximum experience while engaging in their practice/field experience. This position works in a team environment, providing leadership and support to ensure compliance with program goals and accreditation guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the College’s philosophy, program curriculum, and course outcomes through leadership of the practicum operations team of coordinators and site development specialists in collaboration with the Program Dean, Associate Dean and practice/field faculty.
  • Provide input into hiring practice/field faculty and assign faculty to teach practice/field courses.
  • Train practice/field faculty in applied practice experience policies and processes and supervise the implementation of the policies and processes.
  • Monitor and approve all practice/field sites to ensure compliance with program goals, University requirements, accreditation standards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Organize and oversee a timely and appropriate practice/field placement process.
  • Work closely with program administrators to identify and support practice/field preceptors/instructors and provide them with ongoing training in their work with students.
  • Monitor students, practice/field sites, and practice/field preceptors/instructors in their educational functions in accordance with approved criteria, ensuring consistency with program curriculum and policies.
  • Provide ongoing, timely support to students and practice/field preceptors/instructors when challenges to student learning emerge, including appeals, grievances, and complaints.
  • Identify, establish, and support practice/field sites that are consistent with the program’s mission and goals and that adhere to the educational policies of the program and its accreditor.
  • Provide students with current, relevant, and excellent learning opportunities in their discipline.
  • Serve as a positive professional role model for students, assisting in their development and showing Chamberlain Care.
  • Actively participate in leadership and committee meetings at department, College, and University levels as assigned.
  • Monitor and evaluate liability, due process, and risk management concerns regarding practice/field experiences.
  • Develop and implement a continuous comprehensive practice/field education program evaluation.
  • Attend program and college Community Advisory Board meetings.
  • Manage and forecast the budget for practice/field education, recommending staffing patterns based on student enrollment.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for the practice/field education sequence of the curriculum.
  • Oversee student enrollment into all practice/field courses.
  • Develop and implement practice/field education policies consistent with program standards and applicable regulations.
  • Oversee and maintain relevant data systems, ensuring coordination with the institution’s larger information system strategies and compliance with policies and mandates.
  • Oversee educational programming for practice/field preceptors/instructors.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and updating of practice/field manuals, handbooks, forms, and administrative procedures consistent with applicable guidelines.
  • Actively participate and support university initiatives to advance its mission, goals, and values.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of student admission, progression, retention and graduation policies within the College.
  • Chair or serve on work groups that contribute to preparation for accreditation visits.
  • Serve as a role model/mentor for other faculty and staff in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence and general professionalism.
  • Develop professional expertise through formal course work or continuing education.
  • Contribute to the profession by means of service and scholarship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from a programmatically accredited institution in the program discipline; Required and
  • doctorate in the program discipline Preferred or
  • a related field Preferred
  • 5 years post-master’s experience in direct or macro practice in the discipline. Required and
  • Experience working in practice/field education in an educational environment Preferred and
  • Experience working in an online environment Preferred
  • Excellent communication skills along with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.
  • Must meet all compliance requirements as specified in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Some travel required, up to 15% of the time.
  • If licensed in the program discipline, must maintain active license throughout employment. Required

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,696.34 and $124,230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
