Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance

Quick Overview:

You'll be the person who elevates Covista's executives' voices and cements their standing as visible, compelling authorities — developing the speeches, positioning, social presence and media relationships that amplify their leadership and expertise in healthcare education. Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Communications, you'll have ownership across both executive content and earned media, with clear runway to grow.

This role is for an expert storyteller: someone who can find the narrative buried in a business update, shape an executive's point of view into a LinkedIn post that commands attention and drives conversation, and pitch a journalist on why Covista's story matters — all in the same week. You'll build and maintain the media relationships, content engine and executive voice infrastructure that drives how this company shows up in the world.

The exposure is broad and the work is high visibility. You'll partner closely with the C-suite on the moments that define their public presence — thought leadership, media interviews, speaking engagements, and the steady drumbeat of content that builds authority over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Executive Communications

  • Develop speeches, talking points, bylined articles and presentations for the c-suite.

  • Lead executive social media strategy — identifying trends, building thought leadership positioning, and managing day-to-day presence across platforms.

  • Design messaging frameworks for different audiences and channels.

  • Prepare executives for high-stakes media interviews and speaking engagements.

  • Use AI and technology to sharpen your work and move faster.

Media Relations & Storytelling

  • Be the story miner — digging into Covista's operations to surface narratives worth telling.

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists covering higher education, healthcare and business.

  • Pitch stories, coordinate media interviews, and develop the press materials (releases, bylines, pitch frameworks) that drive executive visibility.

  • Stay ahead of news cycles to find the right moment for the right story.

Who Thrives Here

You're a generalist in the best sense — equally comfortable crafting a CEO LinkedIn post, pitching a Wall Street Journal story, and giving counsel to internal stakeholders on how to shape a narrative. You write exceptionally well, adapt quickly to different voices and formats, and have strong instincts for what's newsworthy. You're proactive by nature: you spot the trend before someone asks you about it and pitch the story before the window closes.

You're ambitious and want to grow. This role is built for someone who's ready for more responsibility than their current position allows and wants a real platform to demonstrate what they can do. The director you'll work with is invested in your development, and Covista's growth creates room to advance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field required
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate or executive comms, media relations, or journalism — with C-suite exposure
  • Exceptional writing: Writes in multiple voices, distills complex ideas, and adapts across formats and channels
  • Media relationships: Track record of placements and genuine journalist relationships — not just distribution lists
  • Social media fluency: Manages executive accounts and develops innovative thought leadership positioning strategies
  • Discretion & judgment: Handles sensitive information and high-stakes situations with maturity and strategic awareness
  • Comfort with AI tools: Actively experiments with AI to produce better work, faster — not just willing to try it

Preferred Background

Experience in higher education, healthcare, publicly traded companies, or regulated industries is a plus. You're as comfortable in a strategic conversation as you are executing the details flawlessly. You've navigated crisis communications and know how to stay steady when stakes are high. You build trust easily — with internal teams, external partners, and media contacts alike. Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field required.
