Job Description

Walden University is an accredited institution committed to quality higher education, positive social impact, and broad access to online learning. Walden offers doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees online, in education, management and technology, health sciences, and the social and behavioral sciences, and other disciplines. Students in these programs attend virtual or face-to-face residencies held throughout the year at select locations around the United States. The Specialist, Academic Success supports the planning and delivery of virtual and in-person academic residency events, working collaboratively across Academic Affairs and university teams to create meaningful student and faculty experiences while fostering a sense of belonging. 

Responsibilities 

  • Plan, coordinate, and organize logistics for synchronous virtual and in-person academic residencies, labs, intensives, and related academic events. 

  • Collaborate with faculty, college leaders, academic support staff, and program stakeholders to plan and deliver engaging synchronous academic experiences that achieve university and program goals. 

  • Provide support that strengthens the faculty/staff experience and student journey, fosters a sense of belonging, and reflects the university’s Community of Care. 

  • Serve as a resource for academic residencies, labs, and intensives, supporting consistent planning, communication, and execution across programs with varying needs. 

  • Manage and support event schedule builds in designated platforms, including event management content, event websites, and related faculty/staff and student communications. 

  • Help maintain policies, procedures, website content, and related information for residencies, labs, and intensives in university resources such as the Catalog and Student Handbook. 

  • Coordinate faculty and staff assignments for residencies, labs, and intensives, including assignment updates and changes as needed. 

  • Respond to student inquiries and escalations through Salesforce and other university support channels, serving as a liaison between Academic Residencies and academic or business offices. 

  • Monitor adherence to university policies and standards while identifying opportunities to improve operational practices, systems, and workflows. 

  • Represent the team at pertinent meetings and collaborate across departments to support operations for residencies, labs, and intensives. 

  • Apply strong technology skills, written and interpersonal communication skills, Excel and AI proficiency, and experience with online learning or event platforms to support academic event operations. 

  • Travel to support academic residencies, labs, intensives, and other academic events; periodically flex work hours to accommodate evening and weekend event support. 

  • Assist with reports, residency data requests, and other operational information needs as requested. 

  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned. 

  • Comply with all policies and standards. 


Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in business administration, management, or a related field. 

  • 3 years experience in higher education is preferred. 

  • Experience with online education is beneficial.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels. 

  • Strong facilitation, organization, time-management, follow-up, analytical, project management, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects simultaneously, solve problems creatively, meet deadlines, and support internal customers in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across teams and supporting unit, program, and university priorities. 

  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, integrity, healthy organizational behaviors, and the ability to gain and maintain the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity. 

  • Ability to build strong customer relationships, deliver customer-centric solutions, and handle sensitive or private company matters confidentially. 

  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse faculty, adult students, and staff across varying levels of responsibility, expertise, and cultural backgrounds. 

  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Microsoft Copilot. 

  • Experience with SharePoint, Salesforce, Banner, Canvas, event management platforms such as Certain, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom preferred. 

  • Ability and willingness to travel to event locations as needed. 

  • Comply with all Walden and Covista policies and standards. 

  • Support projects, initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned. 


Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $42661.58 and $75065.24. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
