Job Description

Opportunity at a Glance
The Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep and maintenance of campus buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, functional, and efficient environment. This role contributes to RUSVM Operations by performing routine, preventative, and project-based maintenance while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support campus operations and strategic objectives. The position requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering high-quality maintenance services.
Responsibilities

  • Conducting routine inspections of building systems, equipment, and structures to identify any issues that may require repair or replacement.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing any equipment systems malfunctions identifying root causes of problems on any applicable HVAC systems or Plumbing systems or Electrical systems and electronic devices, Carpentry or other Civil expertise required for effective and optimum operations of all physical assets including building equipment based on technical expertise.
  • Responding to and resolving maintenance requests from building occupants in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conducting reactive, deferred, condition-based and preventative maintenance on equipment as well as Monitoring and maintaining building security systems, fire alarms, and other safety equipment based on area of technical expertise (HVAC or Plumbing or Electrical or Carpentry or Civil)
  • Ensuring that all equipment and systems of work are in compliance with international and proprietary safety regulations.
  • Maintaining inventory and liaising with the respective key stakeholders to ensure that the necessary supplies and equipment are ordered in a timely manner making sure appropriate inventory levels are always maintained.
  • Responding to emergency repair requests as well as planned maintenance works coordinating with other maintenance personnel or contractors as needed and providing accurate records of all maintenance activities.
  • Performing other non-technical regular maintenance tasks such as painting, landscaping, and cleaning
  • Coordinating with vendors and external contractors (local and international) to ensure that repairs and maintenance tasks are completed according to schedule and budget and within EH&S compliance.
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed, as well as any materials and supplies used.
  • Providing excellent customer service and communicating effectively with building occupants, management, students and other stakeholders to ensure that their needs are being met and any issues are addressed promptly.
  • Keeping abreast of any new technologies and new developments in maintenance and operations technologies and best practices and incorporating these into daily work activities.
  • Ability to use a computer to complete work orders on a computerized maintenance management system as well as email and other introduced computer software.
  • Support Operational initiatives as they arise and perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required or
  • Equivalent Required
  • 5+ years Demonstrable ability to use electrical, power tools, hand tools and be proficient in reading and use of technical line drawings, shop drawings and other architectural drawings Required and
  • 5+ years Proven experience in relative trade (Electrician or Plumber or HVAC Tech or Carpenter, Civil work etc.) with viable references Required
  • Extended skills in electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Joinery, Civil Works and Plumbing required.
  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight.
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical, power tools, hand tools and be proficient in reading and use of technical line drawings, shop drawings and other architectural drawings
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulatory guidelines in accordance with Miami-Dade, County, Florida MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA Ordinance Building Codes – NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE
  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial building equipment operations systems
  • Electrician or Plumber or HVAC Tech or Carpenter, Civil work Preferred
